How will on-site checks be carried out in future?
On-site checks will be carried out based on the assumption that the company is storing the relevant data. Preparations to make this a legal obligation are being made in most EU member states. The exact procedures are yet to be determined by the relevant authorities.
Authorities
How will roadside checks be carried out in future?
As there is no general obligation to convert old vehicles to digital tachographs, it can be assumed that there will be drivers alternating between vehicles with analogue and digital tachographs. The procedure and aids that control officials can use to check compliance with EU social regulations when a mixture of analogue and digital tachographs are in operation, and to check the validity of driver cards, are currently being discussed.
Authorities
The control card enables the control official to access all data stored in the mass memory of a digital tachograph.
Authorities
What data is stored on the control card?
The key parameters (date, time, duration, identification of the vehicle inspected, card number of the driver card checked) for the last 230 control activities will be stored on the control card. It is not planned to store mass memory or driver card data on the control card. Special solutions are required for downloading data.
Authorities
Can all digital tachographs be checked with the control card?
Yes, the control card can be used for all products from all manufacturers.
Authorities
By when must OEMs switch to using digital tachographs in vehicle production?
The date will be determined by the introduction date from which the EU prescribes that digital tachographs must be installed in new vehicles – minus the period between vehicle production and vehicle registration by their customers.
